Atopic Dermatitis is a skin condition that comes and goes. A person with atopic dermatitis reacts abnormally to irritants, environmental allergens, and food and develops flaky and dry, red, and very itchy skin. This skin condition tends to develop in childhood, occurring together with other atopic dis-eases like asthma and hay fever.

The cause of Atopic Dermatitis is not known. It is believed to spring from a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

Lotions, creams and ointments, moisturizers, topical steroids, and antiseptic solutions are all commonly offered treatments.
